THE LOVE STORY
HOW WE MET: My favorite story! Harsh and I met on a dating app called DilMil. I had been living New York for the last few years and meeting someone in such a busy city was difficult. I decided why not give this app a go? The story I love the most is the first time I met harsh. Harsh and I had been talking for about three months. He lived in Virginia and I lived in New York, so about a four hour drive. We both hit it off from the beginning, but I was very nervous to meet him. I did my best to avoid meeting him until I was ready, but that didn’t go my way. I believe it was March, I get a phone call from Harsh and he tells me he’s in New York. I panicked because I had nothing nice to wear, my hair was a mess, and I was so nervous. I QUICKLY got ready and drove to Manhattan to see him. As I walk up to him he embraces me with the biggest hug. I’ve never felt so important to someone and I will never forget that hug. Harsh made me feel so comfortable throughout our date. Never have I been able to talk about so much with someone. We ended the night by driving to Long Island City. There is this Pepsi Cola sign that I really love because the skyline of Manhattan is beautiful from there. It was snowing, but I knew the view was priceless. We both did not want this night to end.
WHAT ATTRACTED ME TO HIM: I would have to say his humor!
WHAT ATTRACTED HIM TO HER: She’s so cute! Also love how friendly she is.
THE PROPOSAL: It was April and one of my cousins in Virginia randomly asked me to dinner. She said her friends parents had opened a new restaurant in Washington DC. So we decided to give it a try. We went and got our nails done, picked out outfits, and got ready. We decided to Uber to DC. As we get to DC we pull up to one of the monuments. I get out of the car and I hear my favorite song playing, A Thousand Years. I turn around to find Harsh’s friends playing my favorite song on his guitar. My cousin and I walked into this gazebo and there were roses and candles everywhere. Harsh got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
THE WEDDING
MEMORABLE CEREMONY MOMENT: Having my brother walk me into the ceremony. We both were extremely emotional.
MOST ROMANTIC MOMENT OF THE DAY: The most romantic part was during the Sikh ceremony. We both had been waiting years for this moment and we were so excited.
MEMORABLE RECEPTION MOMENT: The most touching moment was when my little cousins and best friend gave a speech. This really hit home because we all knew I was moving thousands of miles away. It was emotional and funny to reminisce on old stories.
MY FAVORITE PART OF THE DAY: The whole day was perfect!
ADVICE FOR OTHER BRIDES: Don’t stress. Even when things go wrong just enjoy the moment. The wedding taught me to live in the moment. Start planning early on.
ADVICE FOR OTHER GROOMS: Don’t make your fiancé do all the planning. Trust me she would love some input! Input from your partner helps reduce stress.
