Engaged: December 31, 2020 — Wedding Date: October 30, 2022
HOW DID YOU MEET? Another online dating success story! While online dating sounds pretty standard, we only matched because of our temporary proximity to each other. I work at a prison and Donny was attending the academy next door to the prison when he got promoted to Engineer with the fire service. Who knew a prison being located next to a fire academy was all it took for love to spark? Donny asked me out for a first date at a beautiful Italian restaurant, and we spent every day possible together after that.
WHAT ATTRACTED HER TO HIM? I was immediately attracted to Donny because he seemed so sweet on our first date. It was awkward like all first dates are, but I left feeling so comfortable. We spent quite a bit of time together right away as though we had been together forever. He makes me laugh and I’m not afraid to be myself in front of him. I could envision a lifetime together with him before too long. He is so handsome with his blue eyes and dashing smile. Doesn’t hurt how tall he is too! Donny being a firefighting hero is something I’m so proud of and feel fortunate to have in my life.
WHAT ATTRACTED HIM TO HER? What attracted me to Stephanie was how we were able to talk and connect as well as how beautiful she looked. I enjoyed being around her and the things we had in common. It was interesting to find someone that had also had four siblings. The thing that made our story extra interesting was that we’re also both the youngest of five children. I loved being around her and spending my time with her. We really grew a connection during the time that I was in my company officer academy. We spent a lot of time together and I knew she was someone that I didn’t want to let get away.
YOUR ENGAGEMENT STORY: Donny proposed after two and a half years of dating. He is a man of few words and kept it simple, asking me for forever! We love cooking together and in perfect form for our relationship, Donny got down on one knee in the middle of our kitchen as we finished making dinner. Our home base is important to us because it is a symbol of the life we are building together, and it was the right place for the engagement to happen.
TELL US YOUR COVID WEDDING PLANNING EXPERIENCE: Our experience planning the wedding during COVID times has actually been pretty smooth. Mostly due to my sister and brother-in-law (Jennifer and Rick Tan). They own Tan Wedding Events and have made every step of the process so easy, pointing us in the right direction of amazing vendors and a beautiful venue! Having the wedding in October also gave us the buffer we knew we would need to (hopefully) ensure we did not have too many restrictions for the big day.
