WEDDING DATE: 12/11/2021
HOW DID YOU MEET? We were introduced by mutual friends at a local bar on 90’s night! Haha! I (Alexis) had recently moved back to Sacramento and a few friends asked me to swing by after yoga to say hi and catch up. We were introduced and Scott said I resembled what he thought Cleopatra would be/look like. I took it as a pretty nice compliment considering I was post yoga with no makeup on and my hair in a bun! We talked the night away and the rest is history!
WHAT ATTRACTED HER TO HIM? The minute I met Scott, looked him in the eyes, shook his hand, and heard his voice, I just felt this warm emotion inside and a major case of the butterflies. He gave me this feeling as if I’d known him forever and that he was the most genuine and kind person that I have ever met. I loved (and still love) the way his mind works and his outlook on life. He is my breath of fresh air and my distant traveler (so cheesy, I know haha but so true!)
WHAT ATTRACTED HIM TO HER? I was initially attracted to her innate beauty; her flowing hair, her glowing skin, her radiant smile. And then as I got to know her, I became equally attracted to her beautiful personality and magnetic energy.
YOUR PROPOSAL STORY: Well Scott had just finished up a long water polo season and could really use a vacation. So I wanted to plan a special trip for us to get away and escape the craziness of the holidays! I found this eco-friendly adventure resort near Ensenada Mexico (right up our alley)! On the way down Scott wasn’t his usual adventurous self and did NOT want to stop anywhere whether it was to go ride ATV’s or to grab supplies and food for our trip! Little did I know that it was because he was so scared to lose the ring hahaha! So long story short the first two nights we ate mussels that Scott harvested for us and hiked to the nearest town for the rest of our meals. The last night I had set up a private chef to come cook for us, yum! We had just went on a crazy hike that day and decided we wanted to get dressed up for dinner! We were on the edge of the sea cliffs with the most AMAZING view of the ocean. I’m waiting for Scott on the balcony to have a glass of wine with me before dinner. Then I hear our song come on “Distant Travelers” by Mike Love and I turn around and Scott is there on one knee with tears streaming down his face. Then he asks me to spend the rest of my life with him and the answer couldn’t have been a more genuine whole hearted YES! Then the chefs came and we had the best dinner either one of us had ever tasted! We drank wine, celebrated, and danced the night away, just he and I in our own little world. It was absolutely perfect!
TELL US YOUR COVID WEDDING PLANNING EXPERIENCE: We made the early decision to postpone our wedding to the end of 2021 which hopefully works out for us! There has been a lot of uncertainty throughout the whole process especially since weddings aren’t cheap and it’s hard to sign away large chunks of money without knowing if the wedding will actually get to happen as planned. But once we postponed the wedding we have been able to slowly plan, do a lot of DIY, and take our time to enjoy our engagement.
