HOW DID YOU MEET: We met at work. We became friends first but there was a spark from the beginning, and eventually we fell in love and became inseparable quickly.
WHAT ATTRACTED HER TO HIM? I saw how kind he was to everyone around him, and how he had an ability to make everyone feel uplifted and seen. I remember wishing I could be with someone like that, and it eventually occurred to me that I could.
WHAT ATTRACTED HIM TO HER? Her kind spirit and wholesome nature.
YOUR PROPOSAL STORY: He took me to Montauk, New York for our 4 year anniversary of dating. He told me he wanted to take photos of us on the beach together at sunset. He set up his camera on a tripod and told me it was on snapshot mode (it was actually videotaping us). He had us pose, then shouted “look a seal!” and pointed to the water. I turned to look, and when I turned back he was on his knee with a beautiful ring and proposed to me.
THE WEDDING STORY
FAVORITE PART OF THE WEDDING: For both of us, the ceremony was our favorite part. The feeling of having our closest loved ones watch and support us as we committed our lives to each other was indescribable. Another favorite moment was a Mother/daughter dance I choreographed with my Mom to the song ‘Mom’ by Meghan Trainor. It was a fun and special way to celebrate her.
MOST UNEXPECTED PART OF YOUR WEDDING DAY: Our wedding was completely outdoors, and a bee stung one of my bridesmaids during the ceremony. She was luckily fine though! We also had a groomsmen that was flying in from the East coast, and he wasn’t able to make it at the last minute because of flight cancellations from storms. Other than that, the day was very windy and cool, which we weren’t expecting but were happy about because Sacramento that time of year is usually very hot.
WHAT, IF ANYTHING, WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY? We planned our Sacramento wedding from where we live in NYC. Wedding planning in general can be very stressful, and the distance made it challenging at times. If I could do it all over I would just accept that challenges can come along with what is also a happy time, and just enjoy the process more despite any stressors.
YOUR ADVICE FOR OTHER BRIDES-TO-BE:
The day is really just about you and your soon to be spouse, and you should plan and celebrate in the way that is going to make both of you happiest. Don’t worry about anyone else, and focus on the positive and not the negative. You’ll be tested constantly as you plan, so just enjoy and focus on yourselves. And, invest in a videographer, even if it’s just a friend taping it with a smartphone! You’ll be so happy you have video footage of the day after the wedding!
ADVICE FROM THE GROOM: Do the best you can to support and keep your soon to be wife relaxed, because wedding planning is stressful.
THREE WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING: Romantic, Whimsical and Fun.
HONEYMOON DESTINATION: We went to Bermuda. We had visited early on in our relationship when we went on a cruise together. It was wonderful to go back for a longer visit. On our first trip there we met a local woman who predicted we would come back for our honeymoon, and she was right!

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING GOWN: I wore the Madi Lane Amelie gown in Ivory lace with Mocha underlining. It had a sweetheart neckline with detachable off the shoulder sleeves and a train. I wore the sleeves for the ceremony, then removed them for the reception so I could dance more freely.
WEDDING COLORS/THEME: I wanted a whimsical fairy garden theme, so I chose soft pink and dusty blue, with gold accents. The bridesmaid dresses were dusty blue, and I tried to incorporate those colors in everything from the invitations to the table decor.
DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: Cathy Brooks from Visual Impact Design did my wedding flowers and she nailed them. I asked for a whimsical bouquet that was wispy and had texture, with lots of creams, blush pinks and blue. The flowers turned out so beautiful. She also decorated the arch at Scribner Bend and it was perfect, it felt like we were in a fairytale.
