THE LOVE STORY
HOW DID YOU MEET? We met on Match.com. I sent him several messages before I could get his attention!
WHAT ATTRACTED HER TO HIM? He made me laugh and has pretty blue eyes. He also loves to have a good time.
WHAT ATTRACTED HIM TO HER? Keeping it PG 13, I liked her sweetness, sass, and curves!
YOUR ENGAGEMENT STORY: We waited a few years to get engaged. Although we knew we would eventually get married we didn’t rush the engagement. There were a couple false starts mixed in there. Twice I thought he was taking me on vacation to propose, but no, just the fabulous destination and no ring in sight! Eventually, he found the perfect moment to propose at Scott’s Seafood in Folsom, as this was the location of our first date. He was sweating and acting very strange as he worked up his nerve. Concerned, I inquired about his well being and he stuttered, “I have the meat sweats”. Now, as a healthcare professional I have never heard of such a condition, but I didn’t want to question him about it as he seemed to be struggling. Just as he begins to cough and clear his throat a black box appears between us on the table. We both looked at it inquisitively, as it just sat there closed until he finally re-oxygenated his brain, and opened the box. Of course I said yes! It sounds like a train wreck but it was just perfect for me!
THE WEDDING
FAVORITE PART OF THE WEDDING: Getting hitched! But, I also loved giving my husband his groom’s gift which was a painting I had commissioned of him and his best bird dog, Penny, out in the field doing their thing. I never got a chance to meet Penny because she’s been gone for over ten years, but now her picture hangs in our home.
MOST UNEXPECTED PART OF YOUR WEDDING DAY: Some friends got lost and didn’t make it.
WHAT, IF ANYTHING, WOULD YOU DIFFERENTLY? I wanted to put more signage out from the main road, but with COVID concerns the owner of the venue asked us not to.
ADVICE FOR OTHER BRIDES: It’s what happens the day after the wedding that really counts. Folks won’t notice if things are imperfect so relax and have a good time.
ADVICE FOR OTHER GROOMS: Do what you can to be helpful.
