Day of the Dead. When this theme popped up during a brainstorming session, we knew the exact place to make it a reality. Mission on the Hill in Vacaville was the perfect fit – as a modern facility built to replicate an old California mission, it was ideal! The color palette was a fun and vibrant collection of red, green, blue, purple and orange, popping against the black and white base. By mixing and matching table cloths, chargers, napkins and chair wraps, a vibrant and engaging room was created. The florals in the same brilliant colors, accentuated each table. Add black sugar skull candles, cute kissing skull figurines, and themed cake and the decor was a paired to perfection.
Our beautiful bride Yuri, was in an Allure gown. Lace and lots of it, made up this very Spanish inspired gown. Cathedral length veil edged in the same lace, held in place by a jeweled mantilla, flowed and trailed in the breeze. Yuri also sported this temporary sugar skull tattoo on her shoulder, created by Joëlle’s Emporium. Esteban, looked sharp in a crisp black tuxedo with bright red tie and pocket square.
Of course the invitations were just as creative as all the other details and easy to incorporate with the sugar skull as it’s main graphic element. The adorable cake, complete with cut-out Mr. and Mrs. skull faces, was made with completely edible decoration. Delicate wafer paper roses, accented with sugar jewels, sugar lace veil and silver candy beaded borders completed the look and tasted good too! Great architecture creates great locations for photos, and we had fun using them around the property. Cactus, grapevines and unique, hand-crafted doors and benches all make up why we think Mission on the Hill is a special place for weddings and events.
